Aria
The Great Teacher
Domains: Invention, Knowledge, Dreams
Holy Symbol: An Owl Feather
“Do not stop learning just because it will take time. Because time will pass regardless, and learning is sublime.”
Aria is the Eternal who has had the most amount of influence on the lives of humanity. Perhaps her most well known deed is the creation of the common alphabet and the formation of the common language alongside the Amur, which they formed and spread to Mirokath to help set a good standard of communication. She is commonly depicted as a modestly dressed Brimholm woman, engrossed in writing in a book or on some form of parchment. A curious Eternal who appreciates diversity in all forms, and strove to have that reflected in her creations. In all areas of life, Aria wishes for progress towards the better and believes that shared knowledge and experience is the key to that.
Tenets
Early on in her life, Aria was heavily associated with the dreams that one would experience while asleep. This association came from the time where she lay asleep at the top of a current of wind that flowed throughout all of Mirokath. During that time, she lay asleep as she made her plans for the future. Her only method of communication with her flock was through prophetic dreams she would share with her people. The subtlety at which this was done led to the association between dreams and ambition, which Aria was happy to reinforce. That became one of Aria’s primary tenets, that you are to follow your own dreams and are to put them into practice by your own hand and mind.
“Dreams are nothing without ambition. Ambition is nothing without action.”
Aria has always been the patron of knowledge seekers, and always will be. In her mind, knowledge is to be found and exposed to the light of the world, as the act of learning and knowing is sacred to her. This stems from her desire to sate her endless curiosity. As such she bids her followers to do the same, to reside at the metaphorical top of the sky so they may be able to look down and behold everything.
“The boundaries of knowledge lay at the top of the sky, and it is your duty to fly there.”
Methods, reasons, and facts are among the most important things to Aria. She needs to know, and has an unquenchable thirst for discovery. There is no topic that does not deserve cataloguing, and she encourages her followers to feel the same. Aria wishes for her followers to research for the sake of knowledge, as every new tidbit of information learned about the world is something she is learning at the same time. She wishes for those who teach her things to be rewarded for their efforts. As such, by her decree her followers are to be known for their contributions to knowledge as a whole.
“Learn and teach in equal measure so that your name resides in the record books.”
Clergy
The Clergy of the Church of Aria are currently in a schism, as there are two prevailing schools of thought. Some see themselves as the arbiters of the flow of information, and record keepers of the world’s knowledge. While others see the clergy as a whole as researchers who are to lead the world in discovery. Each side has its own backing and has caused much turmoil in recent years within the religious community. One side being flaunted as impartial observers of a world who is advancing without their input, while the other is being dragged as reckless scientists with no room for ethics in their research. The true state of affairs is muddy, with neither group can prove any sort of misgivings with the other. These religious debates often end with no resolution to the problem at hand, and hurt feelings all around.
The Church
Places devoted exclusively for worship of Aria are few and far between. Spaces involved with The Church of Aria are mostly academies of some sort, or are archives of history and knowledge. The Church as an organization is very much involved with the education of all those who would seek it. They either host or assist in the coordination of learning, and if they cannot do that, they will often attempt to fund it in some manner.
